We encourage you to take the time to work through this personal study guide before we gather together for women's meeting.
These questions and study tips will help you to look into the Scriptures and study James 1:19-27 on your own before we discuss together and are taught from this text on Tuesday.
Women's meeting will be held Tuesday February 18th at 7pm
Childcare available upon request. Please message Providence on social media or contact Lauren Schreiber (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you will be needing childcare.
Read James 1:19-27
Verse 21 say, “Receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” What does that mean and why is that what we need in order to accomplish what James is asking in vv 19 and 20?
Read Matthew 7:24-27. How is James echoing Jesus words in verses 22-25?
In verse 25 James calls the law, “the perfect law, the law of liberty.” How has Christ freed us to see the law this way?
Verse 26 has strong things to say about a religious person who is not careful with their words, calling their religion “worthless.” Is this scripture suggesting that salvation is based upon works and obedience to God’s law? Why or why not?
